CRITERIA AND PROCESS

Overview

Beginning with the Induction class of 2015, The Low Country Golf Hall of Fame will use the following process and criteria for an individual to gain induction.
 

Selection Committee

The process is governed by a selection committee comprised of twelve individuals who will be responsible for electing that years candidates into the hall of fame. To be inducted a candidate must receive approval from at least 75% of the selection committee.
 

Selection Sub-Committee

A selection sub-committee will oversee the vetting process and is responsible for submitting finalists for consideration to the selection committee. The selection sub-committee will be comprised of eight individuals including five hall of fame members. The term for a selection sub-committee member will be two years.
 

Categories and Criteria

There are three categories under which an individual may be considered for induction; Male competitors, Female competitors and Lifetime achievement categories.

Male and Female competitors – A player must be at least forty years of age prior that years induction ceremony. A player must reside in the Low Country or have resided in the low country during the time of their victories/accomplishments. The Low Country is to be predominately considered Beaufort, Colleton and Jasper Counties. Exceptions will and should arise and will be discussed and finalized with a 75% approval from the selection committee and the board of directors. Victories/accomplishments outside of the Low Country may be taken into consideration for a players status for induction.

Lifetime Achievement – An individual must have contributed to the game of golf significantly in areas outside of the competitive arena (i.e. administrator, course architect, superintendent, innovator, media, instructor, coach, etc.).
 

Annual Nomination Considerations

This is to address that portion of the Criteria, Process, and Vetting Procedures for the annual renewal of resumes and accomplishments for those nominees whose resumes are carried forward. Once a resume is received it is carried forward for a period of five years no longer requiring nomination. At the end of that period the resume can be re-activated merely by another nomination.

Each individual whose resume is carried forward will be contacted by Scott Stilwell, Director of Criteria and Process, or Bob Collar, Executive Director, no later than September 15th of that vetting year. They will be given the opportunity to update their resume regarding additional awards, honors, etc. It will be the responsibility of the nominee to make the appropriate copies and return the resume no later than November 30th, the same date as all new nominee resumes must be received.
